Sandwich Plate Query

PostPost by: AlfaLofa » Mon Jun 09, 2014 10:29 am

Could somebody explain how many different types of sandwich plate were fitted to the Elan.

I've seen them described as suitable for the 6 bolt crank which implies that the 4 bolt crank had a different plate.

I've also seen them described as suitable for the 2000E box which implies that cars with earlier boxes had different plates.

Basically I haven't a clue - if someone could post pictures of the various upper and lower plates it would be appreciated. (What they are supposed to fit would also be helpful).

PS......................... I'm interested in original spec plates which took the 2 bolt starter.

As far as I'm aware there's three types of plate that cover the ford/lotus models with starter motor on the right hand side.

Early with top "gap"

Later with lower "gap" and inspection plate available with two or three holes for starter motor

But as always, I stand to be corrected
