Elan trick bits sump

PostPost by: roblotus79 » Sat Mar 29, 2014 10:12 pm

All,

I just wanted to ask/confirm that the sump solution explained on the ELantrickbits website is still the best/good way to go for improving the sump for "enthusiastic road use"

I found this thread

elan-racing-f12/oil-pickup-problem-hard-corners-t465.html

which seems to suggest it is. I'm just inquiring if there is anything better??

Cheers

I am still happy with the trap door style system in my Elan that the Elantrikbits version was developed from.

No problems with it over 10 years of racing now. While I am sure you can always work on better ways to fabricate the details, the basics of a centre pick up with 2 side baffes and a trap door in the baffles with a top windage tray that directs the oil return to the centre compartment seems to be the best arrangement around still.

cheers
