Holbay Cam Versus QED 420

First ever post, but I must have read hundreds in the last year - what an education! Fantastic resource.
I could not find anything already posted on this so,...... here goes.
I have just evicted a Zetec from the 1970 S4 I acquired last year and have tracked down and obtained its original TC Stromberg. I need to strip and tidy the lump etc. which last ran very happily 7 years ago but I would like to try and bring it up to sprint'ish spec.
I have been pointed in the direction of QED 420 cams as the most important bit but I have just spotted on ebay a pair of 'unused' Holbay cams marked as "420".
Does anyone know if these are the same profile as the QED 420's, or close enough to make no noticeable difference.
Thanks in advance (keep answer simple please, getting old now and clearly unbalanced!)

I don't know about holbay vs qed 420, but if you are going for sprint spec, the QED 360 is a good option. QED 420 requires more work (see post below). I also recall that porting is required to achieve full benefit. Good Luck, Dan

I have QED420s in a 1700cc twin cam in my elan. It has webers and It runs really nice. Lots of down low torque and HP. Im very pleased the way it turned out.

James,
A bit off-topic, but related question.
I am planning to have a setup similar to yours in the next year. May I ask if you also did any or all of the complimentary modifications recommended for that engine & cam configuration, such as the port work, large tube exhaust, and carb changes? What compression ratio did you select? I am hoping that I will have a result as nice as yours when it is done!
