the entire "carb faces" (carb mounting surfaces) all hand made Bill: i added an original casted or unwelded
version - i personally think it?s not all that shameful - or is it? cheers sandy

I saw a crashed Lotus Elan in a breakers yard many years ago in which all 4 inlet pipes of the cylinder head had sheared across. Was that what had happened to yours? Or were you converting a Stromberg head to Weber style?

I was never sure whether they had sheared do to a full frontal crash or whether the breakers yard had broken them by trying to pick uo the car with a grab, front and rear. THe engine was pushed back, but the carbs had been stopped by the rear of the engine compartment.

At the time I did not realise that the head could be mended or I would have bought the engine, but as it was I only bought the Diff & propshaft.

hi bill - all of this 50 year old stuff has a (unknown) history and imagine that the intake broke of (or the top 1/3) somehow. then somebody "fabricated" by welding the top segment again. OR the threads were so worn that the owner had to add more meat: in any case this was the only acceptable solution I came up with. once all the rest is
mounted you won?t really notice it. if someone had this problem before he?ll probably know the magic which led to this practicable result. tomorrow we?ll have our local vintage meeting at the lake (from 10 to 1 pm) where i hope there aren?t too many morgans!!! have a nice evening sandy
