71 Elan Sprint Engine Mounting

PostPost by: bloodknock » Tue Jun 18, 2013 7:33 pm

Hello again.
Its been so long since I stripped this car, there's so much I cant remember... ...Engine mounting spacers....I would have sworn that there were eight of the spacers in the photograph (yellow circle) But Just fitting the engine and they just cant be right. Ive got the lump hung there and there is no way that I could use four on each side. I found the two smaller spacers in my bits box, but cant see them being correct. Can any one advise please????

Spacers go on the exhaust side only.

Thanks Mick
The engine mountings to chassis mounting holes seem very tight across the vehicle. see picture. Is it normal to have to "persuade" them into place?
Regards
Bob

The two smaller spacers fit between the Gearbox Rubber Mounting and the Cross Brace which bolts to the Chassis

I still have the original mild steel manifold (Header in the colonies) as fitted to the car originally. Its useable, but I would have liked to fit a stainless steel replacement. Can anyone advise a source of a good reproduction in stainless?
Cheers
Bob
