If you have a VW-Audi dealer near you could use a 056115561G (mk1 Golf) or is it a Rabbit that side of the world.

that crosses to a porsh and vw, but both different part numbers
porsh wix 51342
ribbit 51088
the escort 51516 is what I have been using
and the ph2870a crosses to a 51088

assume they will all work, other post suggests the ph(fram) is good, but that seems to be from a fram person?

if anyone knows wix people they could clarify please

further, what is best. the 51342 is 3$ more, and it crosses to the earlier posting by the framm

this be it

I don't know about the numbers that you quoted are they genuine VW-Audi numbers? I only use the genuine VW one as it has an anti-syphon valve in in it and the after market ones I have seen do not have this valve.
The later VW?s had hydraulic tappets and when left overnight a syphoning effect would take place partially empting the oil filter, when the engine was started the tappets would rattle until oil pressure built up, the filter with valve helped to prevent this and get oil pressure faster preventing the tappet rattle.
I use these filters as I believe it helps to get oil pressure faster from cold.
When I fit a new filter I fill it before fitting but this takes a little longer as with this type you cannot fill it down the centre hole as the valve prevents this, you have to slowly fill it down the small holes (in the picture).......... the anti-syphon valve can be seen in the centre.

Use the common Fram PH3600 for a cross reference for the flavor of filter you like. We use K&Ns with the handy nut on the bottom for easy removal, made by WIX, I believe, especially for K&N.
