Removing oil pickup

Fellers,
I have a TC engine broken down except (for the life of me) I cannot figure out how to remove the oil pickup and return tubes from the block. It is the only thing left to remove.
Any hints?
Mike

The oil pick up tube I presume is the later straight pressed in one that you are trying to remove. If you want to reuse it you need to avoid crushing it when you grip on it to pull it out.
You need to remove the suction strainer on the end by bending back the tabs.
Then insert a solid rod the same size as the tubes innner diameter into the tube to support it. Then grip the tube over the rod with a pair of multigrips or locking pliers or similar and tap on them to pull the tube out.
The return tube can be tapped out with a suitable sized drift down the hole from the oil pump. Most new oil pumps no long use the return tube but have an internal recycle passage instead.
cheers

I would like to send you a PM with a picture of a section of the block and ask a question? would that be O.K?
