Hello,
for my elan sprint 1971 I am looking for:
1. How to remove the fan from the motor. Really impossible to unscrews the smal grain bolt.
2. Where can I find the internal parts to replace brushes and yellow metal support of the motor shaft
3. I would like also to buy one more motor to keep as spare, just in case... for a quick replacement without loosing time.
4. In case anybody has one, I consider to by it included the bracket in case it is on sales all together.
Thank you for any help.

Bill, I think he means this one. Unberto, the fan is held to the shaft with a small allen set screw. The head of the screw could be filled with dirt so I suggest picking at it with something like a dental pick/tool to clean it out.

Yes, correct. Exactly what is shown in the pictur. The small screw has ha hole in the head but I don't know how to unscrew it. Any tools in any sizes doesn't work; it may is rusted.

Umberto,
If the metal fan is the same as the plastic one which I have then the grub screw requires a 3/32" allan key - probably not something you have in Italy! It's slightly smaller than a 2.5mm key but if you taper the end very slightly you can probably tap it in - after clearing out any crud of course. Soak it well with WD40 before you give it another try.
Regards,

Hi Umberto,
Somewhere in my shed with all the rest of the spares I have one of the fans you are describing and shown in the pics. It was working when I purchased it to fit it to my S2. It could not be fitted as the S2 has the Marsden radiator and would not allow the bonnet to open. If you are interested you can PM me for details.
Adam.

Hi i opened the Smiths motor fan in stalled in my car and compared to an other that I have, similar bat different. The contact plate are different as shown in the picture (mine is with a sort of electric circuit, the other is more simple, just the brushes)
Where can I by the contact brushes? Any specialist in UK to restore it? I would like to have two, on as spare, just in case). For the elan sprint must be used the motor with bigger diameter of the shaft and part number should be FHM5761/05

Hi Umberto,
Apparently some people use these as replacements motors on other British classics. Holden also sell one with a 1/4 shaft diameter.
