Oil in air filter

I have webers with K&N filters ,the vent from the head goes to a catch tank.My filters are dripping with "oil " ,where is it comming from ? is this normal? is it oil?

That's normal when it's only a small amount. The Webers tend to store some fuel in, around and on the trumpets and auxiliary venturi area. Since it sits in a low pressure area it undergoes some more distillation and the lighter stuff is sucked away. My guess it's just the heavy hydrocarbons which are left behind and accumulate there. Likely this effect will vary from different refiners and the grades of crude oil.

I'd check your compression figures and oil level at the same time,you might have some blowback

Thanks Keith for the info glad to know it`s normal .
My compression check all checks out OK and the oil usage is not abnormal
The oil that I see in the filter is very fine almost like "3 in 1" unlike the "black" engine oil ,nice to see you at Stoneleigh John

My experience is that with K&N filters mounted directely on the Webers that the fuel cloud that exists in front of the intake trumpets deposits on the filters and dissolves the oil on the filters.
Thus you end up with a mixture of fuel and K&N oil building up on the filters and at some stage starting to drip off. I have to regularily clean the ones on my competition car one the filter become to wet with heavy fuel coponents and pose a fire risk.
