Chain tensioner

According to the picture I have in the manual there should be a washer between the front of the timing chain tensioner pivot and the cylinder head, mine did not have one when I stripped it down, can anyone tell me how thick it should be?

The washer is Aluminium orginally and about 1mm thick. Its a seal washer like on a sump plug.
I normally use a medium strength locking compound on the pivot pin which also seals the thread as well as ensuring it does not come loose
