hi guys
there was a post on here, earlier this month.about dellorto pump setup....
one of the replies said they should spray out of the carb several feet...
the jets on mine spray down vertically, not out towards the butterflys.
i fitted two new ones not so long ago, replacing like for like,
have looked on dellorto web site and see that there is indeed a 90 degree jet..
do i have the wrong ones fitted ?,the carbs didn't look like they had been apart...
car is 73 s130...
thanks in advance.

Stu,
When i dismantled the carbs in my 72 plus 2 i found I had one jet with a vertical outlet and the other horizontal. I spoke to the guys at Eurocarb who advised that either was OK, but ideally they should be the same on each carb. I replaced with 2 new jets that squirt out thru the butterflies, but can't honestly say i noticed any difference.
Regards
Steve

Hi Stu
Since I posted the original note here I've done a bit of reading up on the subject of pump jets for the Dellorto carbs. As I understand it, downward pointing jets were used on early carbs and rear pointing jets on the later (possibly DHLA40E) ones. General consensus appears that there's very little difference between the two, one writer did express a preference for the downward pointing one as this could possibly give slightly better fuel atomisation, however, he admitted that this was more likley to be a theoretical advantage rather than anything which would be noticeable in practice.
I personally believe it is best not to mix jets however, simply for consistancy if nothing else
Hope this helps
Andy

I use to have the vertical ones but had a lot of problems with starting. I changed to the 90 degree ones and the car was dramatically different.
