PostPost by: Peter +2 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:25 am

I am re commissioning my early Plus 2, the engine is running but the rev counter is not working. If any member has any suggestions a to where to start resolving the problem it would be much appreciated.

Hi Peter

could be a number of things. Does the needle kick or move at all when the ignition is switch on? If it is an RV1/**** ( usually number on front dial) with a current loop ( lead from the ignition switch to the coil SW terminal goes via the tacho) then you could try reversing the direction of the lead. with an external current loop you can wind the lead through the other way with an internal loop you need to swop the connections. Do you have electronic ignition? some types do not work well with the current loop tacho

Hope the info gives U a few clues

Best of luck

Bob,

Thank you for your help, I won't be allowed into the garage until next weekend now but I will folllow your advice. BTW I have standard set up with no electronic ignition fitted, yet.

Thanks again.
