SILLY QUESTION

PostPost by: bcmc33 » Sun Mar 28, 2010 3:28 pm

Just about to assemble the sump to the block and found a nylon washer (20mm diameter x 13.25 mm bore x 2mm thick) in the gasket set. Where does this go?

Sump plug washer sometimes nylon but mostly copper.
It could be though as I cannot think of another use for a nylon washer so you could be right??

I guess it is a sump plug washer - I had the answer all the time had I the intellegence to look.

My sump has a tapered 3/8" BSP sealing plug, but a cross flow sump I have for the tall block engine I plan to build has a straight hex head plug with a nylon washer.

 I said it was a silly question

Hi Guys,
Probably miles away here but could it be for use on the cam drive chain tensioner pivot bolt? The one that screws into the front of the timing chain cover/

Just a thought, If its not for the sump, which is normally copper.

I'm sure Roger is correct.....sump plug, as it has always been supplied with all of the gasket sets I have bought and many of these sets were for the Xflow OHV engines.
