C type or L type Con Rods

I've re built my engine before and (as far as I can remember) cheerfully torqued up the con rod bolts to 45lbs.ft as written in the Lotus manual. This time I have the additional advantage of the Miles Wilkins book and it gives very different figures for L type rods and C type rods but doesnt tell you how you know which type you have. My car is a '68 +2 and I think I have L type rods but I would be interested to know the difference between the types?
Thanks

- most (!) probably you have the later "C-type", that are marked 125E. They have more meat, and have 3/8" bolts vs. the very early "116/120E" type rods with 5/16" bolts (-I believe) .....You would be "lucky" to find them in en engine today......
( --- may be I am mixing them up, but look for the 125E stamp. )

Hi Baggy, i think you would be safe in assuming you have the later & much stronger rods 125E-6200C but worth checking wouldn't be 1st time a prev/o fitted early rods bought cheaply or by mistake, but whatever you do change your big end fixings for new, If you have rebuilt once b4 thats 2 lots of tightning we can account for, look at ARP bolts certainly worth while & cheaper than hole in sump-block-wrecked head and so on.
