Question about core plugs

Hello all,
I trust everyone is well and having fun.
Coreplugs....
I ordered a set from Burton (safe bet, yes?) I expected welsh type. I got just a plain (interfnce') fit dish type. 4 off all same dia'. They say this is correct for my engine. Fine. Than means the block should not have an 'abuttment face' onto which you drive or position the core/welsh plug. Can anyone confirm for me that the bores for these dish type plugs are straight thro' I.E. No face inside?
I am also told int' fit plugs can be a Bas**rd to remove.
Is the bellhousing plug same dia? No big deal as yet as I am not planning to remove and fit just yet but I like to be prepaired.
Thanks in advance....

Yes the bores for the plugs are "straight through" and yes the one on the rear of the engine is the same size.
Removal is not hard, you can either punch a hole through the centre and then lever them out or drift one side in towards the block to spin the plug around and the remove it with grips.
Apply a bit of sealer on the new plug before you tap it in (I use a socket that fits inside the dish).
Hope this helps

Alex, why did they send you 4 ?....unless my memory is going there is only 3 ......two on the exh side and one in the bellhousing,
As regards the size, all the earlier engines were all the same size, inch & five eights but from memory the 701 block (Sprint block) has the 2" plug in the bellhousing.......the same as the later 711 1600 block.
They are not difficult to remove or fit, just bang a screwdriver in one side and the usually tip over then they can be levered out with a larger screwdriver, To fit them, clean up lip of the hole, add a little sealer the plug, find a socket that just fits inside the plug and knock it in straight, once it has started then drift it in using a flat metal that contacts on the outer rim. Drive it in until flush.

Oh well. I spare. Me being a tight fisted money counting profiteering bugger I will have it on Ebay soon.. See if I can get 20 quid for it.
In reality I would give away my last penny if I thought the recipient needed it more than I. Just for the record!
Well it is shiney and plated....with something!...
