What is the value of a Twin Cam engine less carbs. It has a weber head. Condition unknown. Just approximations will do.
Thank you.

Difficult to be precise, depends on type, condition, etc, but looking at eBay over the past year I would reckon any more-or-less complete Twin Cam would be worth at least ?1000-1200 for a rebuildable engine. The Weber heads alone seem to go for ?500

My guess at building up the value from components in unknown condition but no visible damage in an assembled engine from what I see on Ebay UK
which appears to set the market price for this stuff
Weber head - 500 to 800 pounds
block - 150 to 250
front cover 100 to 150
cam cover - 100 to 150
rods - 50 - 100
sump ( 6 bolt) 100
total 1000 to 1550 pounds. The rest of the bits have limited value in unknown condition, may be cams if sprint spec have value to add of around 100 pounds. If the seller strips the engine and assesses each componet for usability and amount of rebuild required the value may go up or it down if you discover its not usable. This also corresponds to what you see complete engines sell for.
Buying an engine in unknown condition is always a gamble as usually "unknown" really means I know its stuffed and I am trying to pass it on to someone else for as much as I can get before they realise what a basket case it is
cheers
