vernier sprockets and camshafts

PostPost by: martinbrowning » Sat Nov 08, 2008 3:19 pm

Hi folks,
I currently have the engine and gearbox of my S130 stripped and on the bench.(One of those and whilst I'm at it jobs....).Anyway,I am considering rebuilding the engine with vernier sprockets and maybe fast road cams.Question is,considering that I only do 2-3000 miles per annum in it,will the expense really be worth it?Any thoughts please.

Why use vernier sprockets? Offset dowels only cost <?5-ish each, or ?25-ish for a set, and will do the same job. Unless you will be changing camshafts often, I would have though it an unnecessary expense...

If you've got too much money and like to play,go ahead, otherwise no need..
