Oil

Hi,

I am soon going to start up my Elan after a full restoration. It was last run briefly approx 3 years before which I changed the oil. My question is does oil deteriorate over time? Normally I would change it automatically before starting the engine but is there any need?

Anything else I should check for?

I think I would change as it must have taken moisture on board over the period. Will this not be inclined to cause sludge. There are lots of clever people on here who will know better.
