Engine # N28502... eh?

PostPost by: ill_will » Tue May 06, 2008 8:55 pm

I mentioned this in another post, but since it is a separate question I thought it should have it's own post.

As it says in the title - any ideas? It doesn't seem to be numbered in a similar way to other one's I've read about on this forum. If anyone can shed some light on what it is I'd be most grateful.

Cam cover was red crackle originally by the looks of things. Says 'big valve' on it, writing facing the rear of the car. It has a screw on oil filter, twin Webers.

It's not the original engine for the car; it apparently was LP8083LBA.

If there's anything else I can check to help work out what it is/where it comes from please let me know!

cheers,

N28502 is a UK spec twin cam produced around October 1972. Webers are not original; Dellortos would have been fitted when it left the factory.

Would have been fitted in a Sprint. Some engines had red cam covers, though this one may originaly have been black.

Tim,

Awesome, thanks for that. The red crackle (under black, which has been painted over) looks like it might be original, so I guess it had a red cam cover?

cheers
