Hi, I wish to purchase a new non-ballast coil to use with a Lumenition electronic ignition setup. According to the instructions for the Lumention any coil must have a minimum resistance of 3 ohms. I understand Paul Matty stocks both a standard and sports non-ballast coil. Can anyone please advise me on whether or not either of these coils fit the minimum resistance criteria.
Thanks Michael

Michael,
I am running a Bosch Blue coil with Lumenition but I do not know its specs, there is a lot on coils in the archives, enter "blue coil" in the search facilty at the top of the page and it should bring up a few threads.
This may also help.

Just checked and the specs according to the above website is 3.4 ohms

Thanks for the replies. I purchased a Bosch blue coil from Burton Power and it has certainly cured my starting problems. One curiosity however is that the ignition warning light does not now go out. This was certainly not the case before. Anyone else come across this ?

Cant really see why changing the coil would effect the generator/alternator, ......coincidence perhaps but then again its a "LOTUS"
Suggest you just put a volt meter accross the battery with the engine running about 2500rpm.........should be about 12.6 to 13.8 volts.
