Lucas Sports Coil, WHAT type?

Are there more than one type of the gold Sports Coil? And which one for my +2S130/5 with lumenition?

Others will probabably have different opinions but I and several other people I know use a Bosh Blue coil, this is after Lumenition has been fitted and the rev counter bounces around. By fitting the Blue coil the the rev counter is fine.................I do not know the reason why(and dont particually want to know) but it works for me and others...................

AHA. WHAT KIND of Bosch blue coil, does someone have a parts number? As I do have a bouncing tach., as well as a problem which might be coil related, so why not do two flies with one stroke...Alternatively, lucas sports gold, but which number?

I recently had what I thought was aftermarket module failure on my MGB. I replaced the Crane box and Crane coil that was in it and it still didn't work. Replaced the rotor and viola! I believe the overly powerful spark broke down the dielectric in the OEM Lucas rotor.
I now have a Pertronics "inside-the-distributor" type system with a Bosch coil which seems to work well, but it also fixed the bouncing tach syndrome I'd had for 10 years with the Crane system. Steady as a rock now.

Bosch blue coil bought now, the one in the "bad" section supposedly the best of those.... part number 0 221 102 082 (0 221 119 027), metal casing with blue stickers. Hopefully this is the one to make the Lumenition and tach perform as they should, and replace the lucas sports which looks like is bust. (engine cuts out completely occasionally when warm, usually in the middle of crossings..., will start again soon after).

According to this website the Blue coil needs no balast resistor but the red coil requires a resistor.

In Australia the red came in ballast and unballasted versions or at least they did. I have a 6V ballast type on the Esprit and unballasted 12V ones on the Elan and plus 2. I have not bought one for a few years, probably actually about 10 years so maybe they have changed their conventions!!

hmm.... It says on the box: "For igintion systems without ballast resistor" I take it then I'm safe to take off the Lucas Sports gold coil and just plug in this one..?
