Running Hot

Hi - bit of a sunday evening head-scratcher for you..
I am having a slight issue with my +2 running rather hot. I use it every day, and it gets very hot and bothered on the short journeys and in town - regardless of whether it's snowing or sun..!
It will easilly nudge 90-95 and will start wandering into the orange unless I start some strategic engine-turning-off, which gets rather annoying after a while...!
I have replaced the radiator cap, thermostat and have just had the radiator re-cored, all to no real effect. I am rather stumped and would love any suggestions people have?!
Many thanks,
Rob

To cool things down (at the cost of heating yourself up) put the heater on and the blower on full, with the windows open shouldn't get too hot...
Pop round to your local plumbers merchants and pick up a radiator temperature guage and check the engine is overheating not the guage showing false readings.....

A simple thing, but can you confirm you're not losing any coolant? ........
either externally or internally.
So therefore you do not have to top up the radiator on a weekly basis (assuming you use it every day)?
How long has overheating been a problem?
Regards,
Stuart.

if you're sure the car is actually overheating, you might want to consider of there is a blocked cooling passage in the engine. I dont know how you get in there easily, but if the rad, hoses, thermo, cap, and heater valve are all okay, that suggests internal problem. Is your pump pumping?

Like John says first check that you are over heating. The temperature gauges are not that accurate. My old one used to run a good 5 degrees higher.
Does the fan cut in and at what temperature. ( Temp on gauge against temp of switch)
When you removed the radiator did you disconnect the fan and connect it back up so it runs the wrong way.
Have you got the cardboard underneath the radiator so all air goes through the rad. (are they fitted on +2s)
You say you have just recored the radiator!. Have you got all the air out the system? When you bled it did you run it upto temp with the heater fully open etc.
If the car was not overheating before the new radiator then its down to what you did when you fitted the new rad.
