The Good Old Rvi Rev Counter Problem

PostPost by: ROBATGLYN2000 » Tue Sep 28, 2004 11:53 am

The current sensing rev counter (RVI) on my 71' Sprint is wildly inaccurate. I use an aftermarket opto ignition system.
This problem has been mentioned many times in the past, with the best solution so far being to either change the it for a voltage sensing unit or to send it away to be modified at some expense.

Is there anyone out there that has made an add on circuit that could provide the required input to the rev counter without having to directly connect it in series with the main ignition circuit which causes the problem ...?

why not just adjust yours-----slide the smiths tach out of the dash --still attatched --remove the top light bulb--- you will find a adjusting screw if you look on an angle through the light socket hole ---- use a PLASTIC screw driver to set the speed reading on the tach --- easy ---- ed law
dont close your eyes --you will miss the crash
