repeater fault

Hi Guys

My sprint has developed an electric fault on the flashers. The drivers side works ok but when I change to the near side all I get is the front and wing light on which do not flash.Also the rear does not work at all.

Ive cleaned the earths and cleaned connections but to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I would be checking the indicator circuit in the back light, if there is high resistance or faulty bulb that can cause those symptoms. Maybe pull the bullet connector for the indicator close to the the light fitting and connect to a known good bulb with a temp cable to the earth point in the boot

Hi

Ive tried what you suggested but still no joy. checked the wiring all seems ok.Changed bulbs over and changed and cleaned any suspect area of wiring but still get front indicators on permanent and no back indicator at all . Drivers side no problem.Could it be a problem with the indicator switch itself. Getting a bit desperado now

I can't think it's anything to do with the switch, the flasher unit is common to both sides so not that, I would check (if not already done) the side repeater and front on faulty side, high resistances can cause problems

I will have a look at those two lights tomorrow.When ive had a bulb go the indicators usually flash quicker and not stay on permanent.The rear bulb has not blown and ive tried it on the other side. Works ok

Have you tried switching on the hazards to see if that has any different effect?

I don't have a hazard switch on this sprint 1973. Not sure if it was supposed to have one.Maybe on later models only

Hazards were only fitted to Federal Sprints.

Flasher rate is dependent on load ie current in circuit, no flash is therefore indicates high resistance in your case the rear indicator circuit. If this is good in the live feed then look at all the chassis earths, lamp holder as well as the Black wire connections.

Checked everything in the boot
And didn’t find a live on one side
So had a look at the big loom under dash on passenger side it was a loose connection there
All sorted now
