Does anyone know if an MGB wiper motor, available from Moss Motors, will fit a 1970 Elan Plus 2? Thanks.

Probably, the only difference being the sweep, easily fixed by swapping the drive plate inside...

Hi
yes it will fit but check that it is a 130° drive wheel.
Be careful sometimes wiper motors are sold without drive wheel. to fit yourself

Thanks, but how do you know if the drive wheel is 130 degrees? The driven gear has 46 or 47 teeth.

HI
Stamped on the gear wheel, you have to remove the cover plate, also note if it stops extended or retarded.
You can change the stop position by moving the plastic clip under the gear wheel.
Can you use your original gear wheel?
Good hunting

I ended up ordering from these guys. As I recall, certainly with their complete kit, you can specify the sweep and park details, and other things including the wheel box lengths for fibreglass if required for your repair.

Interesting that in my case after ordering a complete kit with new tubes, wheel boxes, etc I was able to get my system working by cleaning everything up. The grease in the bundy tubes and wheel boxes was well past it’s best. Have you already removed and cleaned the cable? It can actually be cleaned up quite a bit without removing the dash just by unfastening the motor and pulling it out (after removing both wiper arms).
Anyway, the Moss part looks the same as what Stafford Vehicle Products offers and what I received externally matches my stock motor, so pretty sure the Moss part will be fine if that is all you need. Although I am sure it would fit, I never installed the new motor. Here is the link to just the motor, but I can’t tell if the drive wheel is ordered separately anyway. I do recall the company was very responsive to questions though.

Looking down their wiper component page, I would highly recommend adding one of these plugs for the motor wires to your setup (if it isn’t there). My stock setup was missing this connector, rather using individual female spades. This connector keeps all the car loom wiring straight after you figure it out. Note the motor pigtail wire colours are completely different than the loom wires, so it is an easy thing to get confused.
Lotus didn’t 100% follow the British standard colours in the Plus 2 wiper system and I think they had running changes in the looms, so this is a nice feature as you only have to figure out your wiring once. The same connector is available from other North American suppliers if you prefer.
