DASHBOARD

Hi all.
On my S4 I want to change or repair the dashboard; (new veneer) but at the back there are extra thicknesses of wood in places. Is this normal? Does anyone have a picture of the back of their dashboard.
Second question: how do you remove the headlight lever control from the dashboard?
Thank you

Here's the rear of an S4 Dashboard:
The pieces of wood are to space the rocker switches back into the dash & also have a secondary function of ensuring the screws do not come through the dash too far & crack the varnish.

The slide switch in the glove box is a stock immobilizer circuit. In one setting the ignition works and the car starts. In the other setting the the ignition is cut off and the power is rerouted to sound the horn.

Hello All
Ingenious system, bravo lotus. And thank you for these clarifications On my switch there are 4 outputs, 2 of which are off. A white wire runs up to near the NEIMAN, the cylindrical pod is not plugged in. The other white wire also goes all the way to the coil but is not connected. A red thread was pulled from the NEIMAN to the spool. If I need to restore it to original condition you would have to tell me exactly where the 4 wires should be plugged in. By the way, my project is to remove the NEIMAN and install a switch to open the current and a push button to start the starter. My new dashboard is going to be in "Wavy Ash". With very beautiful reflections
