REVERSE LIGHT

PostPost by: street » Sun Oct 08, 2023 7:49 am

My off-side reverse light does not work, i have tested all wiring and it seems to be on body of light where i have the problem, On photo, the button highlighted yellow, show about 11volts, the two copper strips that connect the light,(highlighted pink) have zero volts.

So I know i have power from green/red wire but nothing happens.

Any suggestions

The electrical fittings on the Elan were made 'down to a price, not up to a quality'. To be honest, its a miracle they have lasted as long as they have.

If you have a multimeter, you are going to have to trace the voltage to the point it disappears. If there is power at the end of the cable, is there power at the brass strip that the bullet connector on the end of the wire pushes into? If not, remove the wire and bullet, give everything a good clean and reassemble with a dab of petroleum jelly.

If ok there, but not at the rivet, then corrosion has built up between the rivet and the strip. Probably the easiest fix is to clean the top of the rivet and the adjacent strip and put a dab of solder between the two.

The trick is to be methodical, and work through the circuit until you find the bit that isn't conducting.

Good luck.
