Dash courtesy lamp wiring - USA S4

Regarding the dash courtesy lamp:

Per the lotus wiring diagram, the power wire (red/ white) comes off the window switch wiring (brown) wire. The lamp is actuated by the dash switch providing a ground through the pink/white wire.

I have two harnesses and both have the Red/white wire clipped off right at the window switch connection to the brown feed. My first inclination was to put it back as the wiring diagram shows, but since both were clipped there I was wondering if someone may know why.

Any thoughts? It’s not tough to find somewhere to get the needed switched 12 V positive, but would like to be “ by the book “
