Anyone know if the wiring connections to the back of the temp gauge requires to be specifically connected. Can they be connected the wrong way

I’ll need to get behind the dash, possibly tomorrow.

May be a little help. I have an AC elect temp. On the back around the wire lugs is printed "Battery" "+" and the other "Sender" "-". You may find a "+" and "-" on yours. I don't know if wired incorrectly would damage the gauge.

Hello, not sure if it helps.Taken off the wiring diagram +2S non federal, it looks like the light green is the feed in to the temp gauge on all the diagrams. On my +2s130/5 the light green feed in, is on the left spade as you look at it from the rear of the gauge. Regards Steve

I was in a rush last night and should have elaborated more - you do not say what gauge you have. Only if the gauge is marked at each terminal with an I or S, or maybe + and S, is it critical (S is to the sender and the I or + is a switched 10V) If you have a later Smiths type, then there are no markings so the connection is not critical. But make sure the body is earthed for the panel light.

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your help, just need some time to check out your thoughts. I’ve found all the photos I took of the dash from the rear and can see looking from the rear the light green on the left spade.

The new loom replicated the connections.
