S3 toggle switch attachment

Pictured are the three different ways the toggle switches are attached to my dash. A hex nut, a round
'nut' and a larger round 'nut'. I *think* the hex might be used throughout (for the toggle switches)
based a picture in the S3 owner's manual, but what do the S3 masses say?

Here is a pic of my old 1967 S3 SE dash.
I believe early cars had the hexagon nut to secure the switch, the later cars had the rounded nut with the indentation which were Lucas switches, the cars with electric window switch on the dash had some other switch believed to come from some kitchen unit...... washing machine ???
