Tachometer woes

PostPost by: street » Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:56 am

I may have capacitor issue on my 71 tachometer, are there any simple steps out there to replace. It has been bouncy for years, I suspect the wiring is still standard although it’s rum lumminition. So replace capacitor and redo wiring for above? Any suggestions.

Tachometer bounces on start up, steadies and then dies.

Thanks

First check Earth on Tacho Body.
The tacho is held in Dash by a Bracket and round knurled nuts (thumb screws).
the earth is a ring crimp under one of the knurled nuts.
The knurled nuts come loose sometimes causing a bad Earth.

This issue has been covered many many times.

Here is a little light reading for the oP.
