Plus 2S Rear Wiring Loom.

PostPost by: Breezehill » Thu Oct 08, 2020 12:48 pm

Replacing the rear loom on my 1970 +2S and before removing fully just wanted to check with anyone who may have done this. The Boot area is fairly straight forward but trying to understand the route the loom takes from the rear wheel arch forward? Does this run along the cabin floor to a multi connector behind the dash?

I believe early cars ran down the corner of the floor on passenger side (rhd) and later cars run along the top of the tunnel. I don't know what the change over point is but would guess yours runs down the tunnel under the consol.

My 70 +2S runs down the outboard edge of the driver's side (US) floor. No multi pin connector, only Lucas bullet connectors on each wire.

I think that the original poster with the 70+2S will find the rear loom exactly where he expected it to be. As the loom comes over the rear arch it runs straight down that side of the floor to the front. I don't know how many cars ours are apart but both are 70+2S's.

On my September 1971 +2S130 the wiring loom runs exactly as Bud suggests. Over the rear arch and down the side of the floor and inner sill to the front of the car on the passenger side (UK) of the car. Joins are by bullet connectors.
It does not go along along the centre tunnel.

Many thanks everyone for responding. Its been thirty years since I carried out the initial new chassis up rebuild and now carrying out a refresh and loom replacement.

My early car has the loom coming over the rear turret then down past the seat belt to the floor and runs along the passenger floor in the corner by the sill. It then goes up behind the carpet to the area behind the glove box where there are a load of bullet connectors that join the rear, front and dashboard looms.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!
