Early Plus 2 ammeter

The ammeter that came with my car is Lucas. Did they all have Lucas ammeters? Mine is shot and a Smiths gage resides in the dash now

Mine also came with a Lucas, but I think the incorrect kind (needle pointed up instead of down, rounded bezel).

I'm going a smiths voltmeter soon.

for all models of Lotus, question:
is it better to have voltmeter or amperemeter? benefits -inconvenient

Generally, ammeter for dynamo voltmeter for alternator. A voltmeter is a much simpler to do but an ammeter does provide a lot more information.

The Service Parts List illustrations show the ammeters as Smiths. I appreciate that might not be conclusive.
