Finally found a use for our 3D printer

Brilliant. Love it.
When we got our 3D printer at work, my Engineering Director after announcing that it was ready for use, looked straight at me and said "Not to be used to make parts for Lotus Elans or Hillman Minxes"
I think he knows me too well.
I am however, trying to make quarter light window channels for the +2 by 3D printing them.

The quarter light channels in stainless can be obtained. Vincent Haydon from memory. How about the interior light lenses from the early +2 as a project?

Are you prepared to share the design?
If he does are you prepared to make a few for other peoples, like me? I've bought the LED kit shown but don't want to strip down the original item. I'm a little concerned, too, that the particular LED is rather directional and might not be seen from the side like the standard fitting.

I?ll upload the design to thingiverse as soon as I work out how to and post a link. Regarding the directionality and being seen from the side: I mounted the lamps with the flat of the lens pointing sideways and it provides a good spread of light to the side and is very visible in daylight. The car is currently jacked up on the right side while I fix a rear brake issue but the pattern of light on the garage floor on the left hand side of the car usually shines straight left (and vice versa on the right)

Sandy, search Ebay for "12V 10W Eagle Eye LED", they are $0.99 each (and free postage in the UK). The threaded rear part is 9 mm diameter and the whole thing looks like Sabbot's unit.

I bought the LED lights from amazon, they were listed as ?KAWELL Universal 6pcs High Power White 9w LED? - unfortunately a couple didn?t work but I bought extras.
The wheels came with the car, I believe they were originally supplied by Dave Bean, and are 5 spoke revolution 13x6 with 175 tires. They clear everything on a spyder chassis and suspension, but not by much (clearance to the bottom rear A arm bots is about 1/8?). The body on my S4 is not modified but I doubt that the wheels would work on an S3 without modification.

I'd never heard of http://www.thingiverse.com but, on visiting the site and searching for Lotus Elan, notice that there are a couple of designs there for +2 items. Somebody here might be interested in them.
Anyway, please post the lamp holder design - I've never played with a 3D printer and this looks like a fun place to start....
