S3 Fuel Sending Unit Wiring.

PostPost by: rcombs » Mon Nov 28, 2016 7:38 pm

I am in the process of rewiring my '67 Elan. When I took the car apart the green wire was connected, but there was no ground wire. Does the ground tie into the harness ground, or does it ground to the frame with the battery?

Thanks,

Rick

Rick.
My circuit diagram shows the black earth wire is connected to the chassis earth screw in the boot along with the rear lights, number plate lights and the battery.

Thanks Eric, that is what mine shows as well. Schematics and the actual harness hook-ups are sometimes different.

OK, I see what you mean. I have had a look in the car now.
The wires from the sender go into the harness and one black one comes out again immediately, along with two other wires to the chassis earth screw, as shown in the diagram.
My wiring harness has been replaced, so originals may be different.
Hope it helps
