Marc,
I know it's not really satisfactory that the gauge is reading low due to the mismatch with the sender.
However, you know that your engine is in good condition and at least the gauge works so that you can monitor that consistent pressure is being produced throughout the normal RPM range.
If I had spent the time and money that you have to fix this I would be pretty depressed at this point as well.
