Dashboard Cable Routing

Having nearly completed my S4 dash rewire I was thinking about the options of where to route the main cable run that connects up to the engine bay cable. Not knowing whether there is a preferred route for this, I was thinking of P clipping it in the position just below the ashtray as shown in the photo. Does this sound ok or is there a reason why it should run just behind the lower dash mounting screws and in front of the heater bracket? My own thoughts were that my proposed position would keep the wiring neatly in place particularly when the dash is offered up to the car and also there is lots of space behind the dash in this area.
