Vacuum Light Switch on Dash

PostPost by: jackr » Sun Jan 25, 2015 3:19 pm

Anybody know how to remove the switch from the dash? This is for an S4. I'm stumped.

Thanks

Presumably your problem is that you can't remove the knob from the shaft.

If you look at the pictures at the end of this link you will see a spring loaded pin at the end of the shaft, just push it in with a small screwdriver and the knob will come off.

Thanks for the reply - but I need to know how to remove the whole assembly so the dash can be re-finished.

After taking the knob off, the nut holding it on is deep in the recess. Sometines you can undo it with long pointy nose pliers.

I made a tool from a piece of thin pipe, I cut the end so that there were two points on opposite side of the tube, that fit into the slots in the nut.

That looks too short to do the vacuum 'switch'; it has a long shaft to the knob.

No, there is a large hole right through it, you use a spanner/wrench on the tool.

I knew the old box spanners would come in handy, one end flick switches, the other ignition switch...
