Time for a new battery?

PostPost by: martinbrowning » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:34 am

Hi there, Lat weekend I brought my '72 Sprint out of winter storage and changed oils, coolant etc in preps for the better weather(?!!). I noticed that in two of the cells of the battery - Exide 037 - there was a grey sludge floating around so........time for a new battery or not?

Get it tested! A reliable specialist won't try to rip you off it is OK as you will go back to him when it does need replacing. Ask around, there must be a lot where you live.

just about to ask a battery question.
Is the Exide 037 correct physical size for a Sprint.
What are peoples experience with Optima Batteries? I like to leave my batteries on a battery conditioner do other do this and what is there experience?
The Optima site say the following for charging.
"Yes, and you can use any charger on an OPTIMA Battery as long as the voltage is regulated properly. If your charger will remain on indefinitely, the voltage should be at 13.8 volts maximum with a one-amp maximum current."
