on my 1972 elan sprint the headlamp flash 3 spade relay has a broken spade connecter.
I have bought a new relay but it has 4 spade connecters.
The spades are marked 85,86,87 and 30.
Could someone tell me between what spades i need to put the bridge and what colour goes to what spade.
Many thanks, i know one of you guys can help me

Alan, not sure what you have there. The pin numbers correspond to a standard four pin relay rather than a Flasher.

Here is a link that provides a comparo of the flasher pin numbers for various types.

I would recommend getting the correct three pin flashers unless you are completely re-wiring the circuit.

it's a standard relay rated for 30 amps from "car builder solutions".
I thought that it would be possible to use it just for flashing the headlamps.
The headlamps on main beam are 65 watt x 2 = 130 watts divided by 12 volts = 10.8 amps.
For the driving on main beam and driving on dipped beam i have the original relays which have 4 spade connecters

Alan, the original 3 terminal Lucas 6RA style relays are no longer available.
However you can use a 4 terminal 6RA relay & just join the C2 & W1 terminals as I have done here:
The 4 terminal relays are readily available. If you really must use a later Bosch or Lucas relay, the terminals #s 86 & 30 correspond to W1 (switching signal) & C2 (Power in) respectively.

Sorry Alan, my mistake. I missed 'headlamp flash' in your original post; thought you were talking about the three pin relay used for the turn signals and/or the emergency flasher circuit (if so equipped). I am a bit confused though if you are trying to get the 'Come up flashing when pods raised' circuit?
