This is a correct lighter for your car - this one hasn't got the side bulb fitting attached which lights up the clear plastic ring around the bit that is left in the dash. You'll often see these for sale on fleabay advertised as Elan lighters but they have an Amber plastic ring which isn't quite right for an Elan.

do you happen to know what this is from (other than elan/+2)......???

Hi
Eventually managed to find the lighter concerned (well some of it).
This is the one that came with my sprint. I bought the car in 1978 from the 1st owner so I imagine it definitely is the one supplied when the car was new as he wasn't exactly a "hands on" type of owner!
I'm told this isn't actually the correct item but I can't confirm this. The other half is still on the car but being used to power a solar battery charger.
