slow headlamps

PostPost by: hartley hare » Sun Mar 31, 2013 7:57 pm

hi all

i have fitted a different/new solenoid valve,to my headlamp raise system, this was done through posts via this forum.
and i must say i am very pleased with the product and info received from the posters...

the headlamps take about 5 secs to fully raise, with full vac (fail safe system)when switched on.
i am not looking for a way to speed up the action as it is all plumbed up correctly for this type of valve.

my question....
does anyone know if this time to raise has anything to do with the mot test?

car has not been on the road since mid 80s....plus 2 s130 4

thanks in advance......

Hi Stu,
If you have fitted the same solenoid as me (I posted several references to this on the forum) I agree the lift can be slow. I would rather have a system that worked than one that made the headlamps fly up. I found with the original setup, the pods came up so fast that they hit the bodywork and chipped the paint. Thing of the past now.
As for your MOT I have had the solenoid on for probably four MOT's, at different test stations and never had problem with the time taken to raise or lower the headlights. Plenty of problems with the testers not knowing how to switch the lights on, but that's another story
Good luck with the MOT.
