Early dashboard lights

PostPost by: Iyarno » Fri Nov 02, 2012 3:01 pm

I have a new 'early type' dashboard ready to fit. It has 2 small holes for dash-lights between the Speedo and Rev, whereas my outgoing dash had only one.

Can someone advise on what these 2 lights should do and what colour they should be. I'm guessing one should be for the handbrake light, and I was thinking of using the other light for a new hazard light setup. What have other people got?

Thanks in advance.

Iyarno. my +2 is also a 1968 and has one Handbrake indicator light as in the photo.
I have looked in both my Parts and Workshop manuals both of which only show one indicator light, but they are for the early car.

I am sure someone will provide you with your answer.

Hi

I had the same problem when I changed the dash on my early +2. The top is the handbrake light and is amber on my car. the lower one I believe it was for either hazard lights or heated rear screen. As I have neither on my car I was thinking of connecting it either a high temp or oil pressure warning light. I fitted a light with a blue lenze but I hav not got around to connecting to anything yet.

Regards

Perfect thanks guys. I'll be adding some hazards eventually and I also have a heated rear screen so I guess I can use it for either. Just wondered what the factory standard should be.

Mine has three lights - I suspect 1 originally but the po fitted an alternative rev counter without lights, so mounted the two lights from the rev counter either side of the handbrake light - dip and indicators. Bit cluttered but reasonable solution.
