Headlamd pod switches

Im confused (thats normal) My headlamp pods have holes for the same sort of switches as are used for the door courtesy lights, to be used as the headlight off switches when the pod is down but the manual has a picture which shows a completely different arrangement, some sort of switch mounted on the bodywork and operated by a long spring from the vacuum headlight lifters'. Ive no way of knowing if these are the original pods.
So which is correct for my S1 unit no 3067
Any help gratefully received

Hi Rod
The S1, 2 and 3 all used the same switch for the headlamp, the one operated by the long spring. The Plus 2 used the door light switch arrangement.
The correct switch was in fact the rear brake brakelight switch from a motorcycle of the same era...I believe a Norton. It's a bakolite cover with a long plunger, with the spring attached to it. I'll try and dig one out at the weekend if nobody has before I get out to the garage.
They were very hard to get hold of for a long time, but I believe that repros are now avalable, or a more simple solution can be installed....and I guess that's what has happened to yours.

Not the original, but I used this switch and it works fine. (A rubber cover for the switch is available separately.) If you have the original pods, you should find a tab on the coil part of the spring to which the switch's actuating spring attaches.

I love the sound of a torque wrench in the morning. Sounds like... progress.
