hi folks,

i wonder if i could be cheeky and ask if anybody has or can point me towards any photo's of an original car like mine in the title. i'm after loads and loads of pics of the whole car and close up shots of the interior, exterior and engine bay. i want to keep my eye out for various little detail parts that i need but want to make sure i am getting the correct parts etc.

thanks again.

thanks very much graham, i appreciate that. i was kind of hoping for lots of photo's of a car with the 3 fuseboxes under the bonnet like mine. this is because i don't really know anything about these cars and was hoping to get mine to an original'ish looking state. i need to track down a few bits and bobs that i'll keep an eye out for but without photo's am working a little blind with regard to different years cars etc. hence being perhaps a bit too specific with the description of car i'm looking for.

i am also going to re-wire the car and want it to look pretty factory.

thanks again,

I am surprised there hasn't been a little more of a response.. Perhaps the outstanding UK weather has kept us away from the computer and out on the road! Anyway, the rain has come so I looked through my library and can only come up with one picture of a three fuse box car... Very clean engine bay, but I cannot vouch for how original the layout is..

Picture taken at Donnington 2005 - anyone recognise their car?

Who am I to criticise (Zetec etc) but...

Lockheed brake servo, bag wash reservoir, engine bay colour, aluminium bracket.

Personally I think the originality fetish doesn't sit too well with the Elans. More of a MG thing???

Bryn,

Haven't got any photos but following books will help:

Authentic Lotus Elan and Plus 2 by Robinshaw and Ross. Published by MRP, ISBN 0-947981-95-0.

The Lotus Plus 2 Parts and Service Manual, published by Lotus - gives a breakdown and diagrams of every part of the car, from chassis to nuts/bolts.

You can't beat looking at the real thing so there may be members of this forum who live near to you who can help by letting you see the cars. If you are anywhere near Paul Matty Sportscars at Bromsgrove (01527 835656),they are a mine of information with many good examples in their showrooms. Their Parts Team are also very good with enquries. They also stock the Lotus parts book above.

Hope this helps,

Bryn

The best source for original pictures are the Brooklands Books series of road test re-prints from the time the car was current. You will need a magnifying glass, but it will reveal a good deal to you. And as has previously been suggested, a workshop manual and parts lists will help to get you to where you want to be.

Hi Bryn.

I have a recently-acquired Plus 2 S130 with the earlier fuse layout (I discovered this fact about wiring after asking a question on this forum - I'd been puzzled by the differences between the workshop manual's wiring diagram and what I saw with my own eyes!).

If you let me know your email address (by PM if you prefer) I can take some pictures and send them to you. Alternatively, if you're anywhere near Southampton you can always drop by some time and have a look for yourself. I've been told by a former Lotus dealer that my car's pretty original in most respects.
