Voltage stabilizer

Do the Series 1 Elan gauges require a voltage stabilizer. I don't see one in the wiring diagram.

They were never fitted on the S1/2's so the needle dances around a bit but I think it is "part of the car" although I have heard of people fitting them, dont know if it helps though.
