Lucas glass fuse

PostPost by: umbyfer » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:14 pm

I am looking for some fuses as the original: glass cylinder, with paper inside, in different lenght and Amper.

Anyone able to help me where to buy?

Thank you,

:)

Stickler isn't a supplier but an expression:

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stickler

You need to be looking for 1 1/4" glass type cartridge fuses. They're sometimes listed as 32 x 6 mm. I've been looking and it's hard to find suppliers of the original ones with the coloured paper inside.

If you're content with the less original looking plain glass ones, there are quite a few suppliers, eg here:

http://www.vintagemotorspares.com/phdi/ ... ent&part=5

or look on ebay for "lucas glass fuse".

30mm (1.25") glass fuses are still easily obtained but with the paper in not sure.....
vehicle wiring products and CPC both have a large selection at different current ratings

Hope this helps

Stickler be damned. One of the first changes I made on my Mini was to replace the fuse box with a blade fuse type and move it into the cabin from its original location under the bonnet. I shall be doing the same on the Elan when I convert to alternator and negative earth. Lotus was always improving things so I have no problem doing so in the interest of reliability if it doesn't change the essential character of the car (I know. It might take away the "Lots of trouble usually serious" character but some things are better off changed!!) :)
