Alternator wiring diagram

Does anybody have a wiring diagram that shows the changes needed for an alternator in place of the original generator?

The car is negative earth, and an alternator was installed by a garage about fifteen years ago. The wiring modifications that they did are agricultural, and I want to tidy it up. I need a wiring diagram to feel confident about doing this.

I have a Lucas alternator, 60 amp rating. There are two wires connected to it --- brown/yellow (a big cable) and brown/green (medium sized cable).

Here you you go the D wire large brown/white from the control box would have been 28/012 =17.5 Amps and will not take the current /Amps the warning light 14/012 is ok . So bypass the control box and go to the solenoid ,You do not need a 60A alt for a elan a Lucas 17 ACR 36A or the 25A (derated would be fine) are you sure you have a 60A check the numbers have a look at the diagram link below I have put the wire current rates on it I would use 65/0.30 or 97/0.30 / 97/ .012 (= 97 strands of 0.30 or .012 in old money wire). This will be ok as the elan will not draw the current .

Neil, thanks for the wiring diagram. I'll check the ammeter rating. I know that I bought a 60 amp unit two years ago at the time that I replaced the Elan's alternator, but it may have been for my other old car.
