HEADLINER RODS

In the procees of installing new headlining brought from sue milller its the later 5 rod type. Question where does the rear rod attach to the body.

The rod ends are held by small bent wire clips that are screwed to the inside of the top of the door opening and possibly also the inside the roof. The screws are backed with a flat nut and hold these clips. You should see a row of holes at the top of the door opening.

I found a set of them used as my original clips were rusted beyond usefulness.

Make certain your rods are rust and dirt free and painted. Any dirt or oil could soak into the headliner.

I believe that early +2's had 4 rods later "S" models 5.

Are the headliners available already sewn to shape for our cars? Mine has the white line with small square pattern with four-pointed stars at each corner of the squares.

Thanks for the pictures and information did need to make some wire clips used s/steel 1.5mm welding rod worked quite well. Just need to do a final stretch and then glue in position.Will post picture when finshed.
