there are 31 topics if you put in "alternator coversion" in the search box at the top of the page, it will give you some reading while you wait for other people to respond to your question. It will also give you info from folks that have moved on and are no longer active partiapents in this group. Also what other folks have done and the questions that have been asked in the past. You will get different options from both side of the pond.

Gary's post gives good advice from many sources; I'd just add that the brackets for the Lucas alternators seem to be available again from the usual suspects.
